Thanks so much to everyone who responded to our 2022 Luminaria survey. The results are in and we wanted to share them with you.
There are 156 homes in Creekside and we received 39 responses to the survey. Though we can identify trends and commonalities in the results, we should keep in mind that they represent the opinions of only one person out of every four homes in our neighborhood.
Of the 39 responses to the survey, 90% consider the beauty of the luminaria on Christmas Eve to be “quite important” or “very important”. Many of the open-response comments express the same sentiment. The Creekside Luminaria are a tradition that many in the neighborhood clearly value.
It will come as a surprise to no one that the overwhelming response was that the LED luminaria as implemented were not bright enough. We couldn’t agree more. The extremely cold temperatures made the LEDs much dimmer than when they were tested months before, when the planning took place. We were just as disappointed as many of you – maybe more so.
Another point of agreement among survey respondents is about the importance – or non-importance – of the luminaria being flameless. When asked how important it is that the Creekside luminaria are flameless, 71% responded with “not at all important” and another 18% responded with “somewhat important”.
Fewer luminaria were put out this past holiday and the survey responses clearly show that people would like to have more.
The responses were split regarding support for a different, brighter LED-based solution, with 31% in support, 36% not in support, and the other 34% somewhere between those extremes.
More detailed results can be found here.
Thanks again for your input and for taking the extra time to provide detailed comments. All this helpful input will be used to determine how we best get to that beautiful Luminaria display in 2023 that is part of what makes Creekside the special neighborhood that it is.
